Week 6 - What is a blog and how does AI affect online content

By Monet McKenzie on 3rd January 2024

This week's lesson focused on the learning objective: define the term 'blog' and what are 'bloggers'. Before this lesson I was under the assumption that I had never read a blog however after this lesson I realised I had.

The first time I probably read a blog was get advice on what phone I should buy. This blog post was insightful, informative and brief. It gave me a good overview for which phone was the best value for money, which one was the best budget phone and which one had the best performance.

Looking at a few blog posts today during the lesson has shown me that the majority of blog are informational.

Further on in our lesson we had a look at Pika.art, an online website that uses AI to generate gifs and videos using various art styles such as animation, anime and cartoon. It's a video AI generation website.

Page Design and overall experience

I found the website easy to use and user friendly. The page design is very simple and shows AI examples from other user and you also have a personal library.

Places for improvement

I think having the ability to filter the length of the video for example 10 seconds long or 30 seconds long would improve the user experience making it simpler.

The website would also benefit from a character count or word count limit figure in the right hand corner where you describe your prompt:

Furthermore, the quality of the AI design can be improved. Some of the prompt I gave were not executed properly. For example the prompt 'a fairy dying and then turns to dust' was inputted however the second half of the prompt was ignored. The AI gave me a fairy however she was not turning to dust as seen below.

Here are some other examples that Pika.art created for me using certain prompts:

Tune in next time for February's post!
